That sounds like some shade tree engineering.My ‘68 Mustang had a foot pedal for the windshield washer. You had to pump the fluid manually with your foot.

Real talk though, for some of those artifacts, the British taking them may be the only reason they weren't eventually destroyed, given the unstable regions where they came from.
