On page 168 of the 6th edition of the Handbook of Model Rocketry there is a 1965 photo of Pat Artis describing his parallel staged rocket with forward booster pods. It looks like it would be an interesting build for Estes mini-engines. Are there plans available for this rocket somewhere?
 
Noticed the same thing, inspiring! Minimum diameter on mini engines would be a screamer. Problem is, A10-0T's in the booster pods would have the same thrust duration as a core A3-6T, so you wouldn't really get the parallel staging benefit of ditching excess mass while the core motor is still burning.
