ATACMS was on my future scale build list even before it went into Ukrainian service. Just the name is great: Attack-'ems, but it also satisfies my eye for short, fat rockets like the Big Daddy, and the boat tail, von Kármán cone, and unique fin shape are all aesthetically pleasing. The original test livery is a good kind of bonkers, and the production paint schemes are handsome too.

Very nice work - love the chunky shape! How did you construct the tail cone?

I did a build thread back in January of 2010 when that rocket was built. The tailcone was fabricated using a simple technique and probably worth posting again for options for the new scratch builders out there. There were no 3D hobby printers back then, lol.

The parts:

Here's the assembled rear of the build with the tailcone area marked:

Glued a light form with card stock:

Wet out some drywall fiberglass tape to harden the form:

Wet out a few layers of fiberglass cloth:

Here's the finished tailcone:

Great stuff! Thanks for responding. I didn't join TRF until 2015, so never saw this. Will do a search...
