The key difference between landing and crashing is how close to parallel the plane is when it does that.

I'm pretty sure most commercial airport runways are concrete. Don't know about general aviation airports.

Big airplanes use concrete runways. All the taxiways are concrete.
In Phoenix summers they can’t even park on the asphalt (tarmac as news media loves to say) or they will sink in.

I worked in 80’s at Dyne air tech at Sky Harbor Airport. Twice one summer we took the enormous tug we had to the terminal area to help pull DC-10s back onto the concrete. One tug on each landing gear leg, do it at 2:00 AM when essentially no passengers are at gates to watch.

We had our landing gear start to sink into asphalt on a road while we were on a scene for a few hours on a hot summer day. The mechanics were thrilled to replace the wheels because asphalt was still stuck to them.
