Does anyone have a source on a flying model of the Mercury Atlas ?
Boyce makes one in 1:100 scale but looking for something bigger to help complete by collection of US Space race rockets.
In past year I have completed a V2, X-15, Mercury Redstone, Gemini Titan and Saturn V. I still have a few to go.

Have a look at this. I don't know if it will help you out are not

Estes has a out-of-production 1/35th model that now and then becomes available on ebay, but the prices are usually very high and there is no telling when it will become available. Years ago Sem-roc made a list of parts for the Estes model.

I think Rocketguy101 has a scratch build thread somewhere here on TRF.

Those Estes kits are going for well over $200.00
A bit out of my price range. Guess I need to hope they bring it back

David's rendering of the MA is the best craftsmanship I have ever seen!
Take a look at post #96 for the completed model.
Be forewarned, it is an extremely challenging build.
I have downloaded the files and bagged the parts, it's in my build pile.
(For the last 2 years).

The parts to clone (pretty close) the Estes kit are available on Thingiverse.
What would a hand rolled T344 body tube be worth to you? I roll my own.

For those of us that do not have Charles' skill in rolling tubes, you can also cut down a bt-101 tube or coupler from 4" to 3.42".

Find the difference in circumference between the bigger tube and the new tube:
C = pi x OD
Cut a vertical strip the length of the tube equal in width to the difference in circumferences.
Use the cut strip as a glue tab and bring the two edges together.
Leave room at the end for your nose cone shoulder.

And for the right price, I might add a tube to an order of cider.
Don’t know what that price is, though. Only thought of it today.

Thanks for the kind words! I wish I had a laser cutter to cut all those thick cardboard centering rings and former ribs, would have made fit-up much easier! I can't justify the $$$ for it. I have a friend at work that does have one, if I get the gumption to try this again (Atlas Agena anybody? LOL ) I may ask him to give it a go. I was hoping eRockets would pick up the idea and run with it since the capsule and tubes came from them (well, SEMROC at the time).

I've got a partly built Atlas Agena. It's a great idea - I just got distracted by sounding rockets.

I haven't looked again today, but recently, you could vote for the Mercury Atlas to be re-released at Estes' website.
