Dora D. Deployer. This is my first dual deployment rocket to prepare for building a fiberglass dual deploy Darkstar by wildman.
It is a fairly straightforward build, the avionics bay is very small, and the mounts (blinkies) can cause mounting issues. The upper payload bay is almost non existent. You pretty much have to remove the base of the nose cone and create your own bulkhead to have room for charge cannons, recovery harness, and chute or streamer as you desire. I mean it is tight. Lol
I dremel tooled out for 3 brass circles and epoxied them inside the top of payload bay to protect the cardboard from the sheer screws. That is also kind of a pain, but it did seem like a great idea I learned here. I drilled and tapped those for the #2-56 nylon screws.
I welded the eyelets closed that came with the kit.
It comes with nylon recovery harnesses, but I had a @Onebadhawk tubular kevlar and one brand flat kevlar harness. They both work, but the tubular kevlar is much better to work with, and is worth the little bit extra it costs.
Ground tested 7 times to reach a charge cc that worked to split taped bundles and eject with authority.
It flew on a 29mm H238 blue thunder.
I tested the Blue Raven and the Featherweight GPS with this launch.
Overall I am very satisfied.
Chris's Rocket supply had a few of this discontinued kits left the other day for a discount.
