I've had, lol. Finally a steady hour or so to start organizing, and getting these ideas out of my head. Then down, "on to paper so to speak".
With that being said if you're reading I'll be explaining in great detail. Or just pictures, certain people like myself can learn that way a little better then all theory. I like both, to learn.
SO, if your ever stumped. This is my thread to say, "hey it works well, great job!", or, "No, toss those altimeters for your FOURTH L2 attempt, you're a member here and probably reading this now, or maybe not". That not my immediate concern now.
But all of my builds from several houses(From breaking ground, to putting 5,000 sq feet then, of shingles on a complex roof design. I really drew in class. From 6am to about 10am(it was Ma1998?. This work method has improved a bit..), I was 15 years old then, when my father who literally taught me by telling me "to just watch Mikey ill be done in a few minutes, haha". God Bless him he did try, but went his own way. I've done a few things in my life, with my father testing me first, then buying me exactly what was needed. Once. Or allowing me to earn anything from a 1930 Ford Model A 5 window coupe. That I(with my parents at the time) rode in our 1988 Chevy ASTRO Van in 1990(4.3/V6 with a 5 speed auto, column shifter)to just below Tulsa, OK. With my mother Kerry(she's a woman, trust me. She's been mistaken because of the odd name of Carrie, not Kerry). Her and my Father, and I(I'm also the 2nd, II.) All of us with me holding the Atlas. Either way we all drove down to really get her a 1929 Ford Tutor(Not Tudor or "Two-Door), couple from Ed Hessom(he was in
His 90s then, this was Spring 1993). During this trip, I saw a 1930* Ford 5 window that had an old sign that said "Michaels", delivery or something I swear from the 40's or 50's America).
My dad heard me snicker "that could be fast",(I kind you not. He walked back to the Van, grabbed 2 more grand in spare travel cash), and bought me that 1930 Ford Model A. Then after 2 days of looking. "We" loaded to cars to a one car trailer. Hers had a full new frame and wheels(the '29 Tutor)and "mine". With my mothers too was loaded on this trailer, but appropriately to drive from OK to PA. Thing was we had a one car trailer, but used it for 2 smaller bodies. These cars on that trailer were exactly 8 feet wide, we measure it all..
It was a wild ride home including waking up at 3am sleeping with my dad and I sleeping. Mom driving while the rear right trailer tire blew and my other who's also pretty wild. Woke us up, told us exactly what was happening. My dad got up while I did the same grabbing*, then the steering wheel. She just left of the accelerator or gas pedal, and just drive thru it coasting to a stop in St. Louis? So irs been an odd 41 years now. Yeah that's alot of a backstory I'm done sharing all of it.
I am fully disabled and I fly for fun, full time. Many things have changed, my Mother was in bad health recently, BAD. But she's finally doing well So I've been very preoccupied but found a schedule to make things work again..Apologies its been stressful but this helps me.
So, this morning at 6am. I got to clean and organize. I was recently hospitalized again so it was slowed down, the progress on the build. It was all good(but a painful 15 days naturally doing this..) where I demanded that they admit me at the local hospital to "observe me" naturally. I stayed as long as they would let me, lol. Its a funny story it really is, but some other time I want this done, and testing will start, it had to ensure a safe bird, or model rocket.
The date of the "Start" of the build thread was just me after a day of not feeling so hot opened the box around midnight, lol. To do a "Unboxing" video. Well I tried but could hardly stand up, from pain. It was from being active for a year very heavily, getting back into low and high power rocketry again.
My usual build threads(going back to the main topic). Are always step by step, and very detailed "build threads". I love that. Because I always loved educational things, learning something or anything you can new. To finding out how to do something, what not maybe to do, just advice on my builds. I may even need to change a few things that is what I'm checking now though. Even though I'm getting used to using an Android only most days, but I love it too. Thats me.
I have to check on some things and take my Dog Sydney, out. So, here's some more progress where I left off last night from this morning. I wanted to see how much text too, and how many photos I could type/say or download in one post. Before the forum says "stop", Im going to be a supporter too. As soon as more funds get here for this, what really is a budget build. I've tested all of this out now its time to see how it works. I'm very anxious to fly it. I'm a good way as this was my goal in 2012/2013. To build and fly HP rockets...
.
I have that figured out too, maybe. Here's what I've worked today so far. I did a little to the nosecone(thats not even close to done. I'm just starting it now, or continuing it today). I'll also post measurements too as well, a full part(s) list(At the end after the L2 attempt). But also some OpenRocket data, and real life flights. As always some tests firsts, always.
I setup the chute yesterday as I've been wanting too for a month, but it takes time. Outside yesterday, t was 38° F. With 20 mph wind at times like usual, with all that weather it was a perfect "practice day", too. I was working on getting the the shroud lines setup ans even on two quicklinks and swivels, but with a basketball for weight in the 78" main, setup on the ground or tree limb(clothes line cable). Plus I tested out some new or older folding techniques so the chute can deploy in about 25 feet maybe less I can run that fast with this huge as...larger main,
.
Here's progress from this A.M. More to come all day, text and 25 pics a post tops(but not every time I was to set my goals/intentions first as well, like always so people understand this is basically my L3 practice flyer. Thanks to all(ALL) for having some patience, my life is very unpredictable on a daily basis, It also will be, but I have today to get this well into "Dry Time". But that just gluing or epoxy days.
So from 6am, to now I got a little bit done, but much more to do. I want to be sure $1000 total of bird will be in my sight 100% of the time. All while packed in the 2008 Accord I drive now, or 2,000 feet in the air. For an April 2024 NAR L2 attempt, at URRG in New York. I want to see how it goes, to check myself for mistakes with this L2 attempt. The build really started on 01/25/2024. Its now one, or a thread that will be updated at least once daily, or not. So for those times, I'll l update then asap. Or give a heads up for those following this crazy L2 build for a cert attempt. I need to study too, I have been. Now, "Project Overkill" now I'll call it is going up, soon.
Its a custom kit from LOC Precision, who are all really awesome. To the point of sending me the correct CRs, after checking parts physically/manually I was sent the wrong size its all good I'm using them as well other places. Thank you too(LOC-Precision)for not wasting paper! I still haven't looked at any of their instructions at all, but may need too,
. This build is for my entertainment only, and to share any success, or failure. Or successes and failures, all all of the above will be included. So finally, a big Thank-You to "Mike T.", and the others @ LOC-Precision for this amazing kit. I mean it.
As always. I will come back, and fix grammar/spelling later on. "Sosbsbsu", so if you see that, please kindly read over it, its this autocorrect on my cell phone its nutty. Or give me a minute(thats a hour here..), and I'll correct it soon.
Thank you,
