Cute puppers... name suggestion: ClydeMy family has finally decided to purchase a dog after a long time of waiting. Golden retriever puppy, not old enough to be away from its mom yet but we will be able to bring him home soon. Don't know what to name him yet, suggestions are welcome!

Cute puppers... name suggestion: Clyde
Thought about it, decided against."Rocket" is a good name for a dog...
Do you drink? A lot of booze names make good pet names. Talisker. Guinness.Tanqueray. Cointreau. Captain Morgan.
(Our current dog is Hokushika, named after a sake brewery.)
Is that you, Dave? The name that gave folks the most problems for some reason.
One of our borders we just named DEE OH GEE.
Questions were always what a unique name, what does it mean?
D O G, as in dog!
I vote for this!Kitty.
Exactly why I named my dog Kitty."Here, Kitty! Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!"
Looks like a Jimmy to me.My family has finally decided to purchase a dog after a long time of waiting. Golden retriever puppy, not old enough to be away from its mom yet but we will be able to bring him home soon. Don't know what to name him yet, suggestions are welcome!

Funny, we had a polydactyl we named TDC. It was not dumb cat though. It was That Damn Cat!My cat's name is DC...dumb cat.
You're right. They name themselves:I think animals name themselves after you've had them a while. Most pets I've owned had an initial name (for the vet paperwork), but after some time, their names changed.
Tas became Helpful
Rosie became Friend
Smokie became Nuzzle, Snoop-Nuzzle or Snoop-Nuzzy-Nuz depending his mood
The only one that hasn't changed is our current cat, Olive. We didn't name her for a few weeks and the reason she ended up as Olive (well, she is a black cat) was that Snoop-Nuzzle loved to eat olives when my wife had them to put on pizza or a sandwich. He would lick Olive until she couldn't take it anymore pretty much from day 1, so the name found her.
