The Jet Freak is basically a flat plate glider (no airfoil). Simply put, when the motor ejects, the CG shifts so that the front of the glider's wings tilts up (think in terms of a seesaw. When one kid gets off, the heavier end drops down). This creates turbulence, which in turn creates a lower pressure area above the wings, creating lift, similar to what you'd see in a conventional airfoiled wing.
