Hello everyone,
I just wanted to stop in and say thanks for being such a great resource. Any questions I had about glue pointed me to the 4000 pages on the topic here on TRF. I am now armed with enough knowledge to destroy my decals by means of poor clear coat choice.
In all seriousness, it's great to find so many folks geeking out about this adventure. I recognize that it can get pretty steep the higher, heaver, louder want to play, but it's heck of a lot cheaper than restoring and modifying a 50 year old car.
I'm an engineer by trade, with hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems, composites, high performance automotive, and even blast mitigation research. After a 25 year hiatus from tinkering with Estes rockets, I've built a Zephyr with my sights on L1 in 10 days (as of this writing). I'm already trying to absorb information on ebays and next steps in the learning process.
See you all soon.
