Did Estes ever release just the Amazon rocket not in the tandem x set?

I’ve looked through every catalog and it has always been in tandem x set, if anyone’s bought JUST the Amazon, please post a picture of the box/face card

No, at least not according to the rather extensive lists maintained on Ye Olde Rocket Shoppe - it only shows up as part of the #1483 Tandem-X starter set.

After losing my first one I looked everywhere and was never able to find it individually. I looked through every catalog and searched the web and it wasn't available.

I eventually got another one off market place as part of someone's old collection.

An alternative to an Estes E2X kit could be one of the updated Quest Quick Kits - plastic fin units, prefinished tubes, self-adhesive decals just like an E2X but the larger versions are 24mm powered and include a 24/18 adapter so you can use smaller motors. The #Q1009 Falcon is a good looking rocket in particular.
