Plenty of tail drag to bring the CP far enough back for the straight flights. For all that have ever flown with my clubs, you only hear the "whistles" after burnout.
I believe there is a quiet Q-Jet that may let you hear more of the music but I haven't seen one fly in a long time.

Yes, it's a great flier with slow straight liftoffs. I only had D12-3s to use...I believe I've heard the whistles with D12-5s... as with the longer delay without the thrust sounds you may hear some whistling during coast phase. Just a unique fun model!

I feel the tubes are too long. You get restricted flow, so the disc's in the noisemakers take longer than necessary to spin up.
it's also the altitude at motor burnout. It's up there a ways by the time a D12 burns out. Mine whistles fine, but you have to listen for it because its several hundred feet away.
