Ground testing and recovery wadding

Quick question, I don’t have any dog barf with me but I have a ton of Estes recovery wadding. I’m hoping to ground test ejection charges today. Is it safe to use ripped up recovery wadding or is the 4F powder too potent for that?

I don't think it matters as long as you use enough. They're essentially the same material--cellulose treated with flame retardant.
