The Ram Jet has been a long time favorite of mine. I have 4 currently a Micro-Maxx powered T4 OD, an original Stock built 18mm Estes model, Custom cloned D12 upscale and a BT-101 3-D12 Clustered 3X upscale.

All used either kit parts or custom turned nosecones. Standard .013 and .021" wall tubing and basswood fins replaced balsa on the original. Actually it's the original that gets flown the least.

Finished my Ram Jet clone tonight. It is a slight upscale and has a 24mm motor mount. Painted it a granite metallic and red/orange fluorescent. For the decals I redrew them into vector format and did cut vinyl.

I am happy with how it turned out and I'm looking forward to flying it soon.

Just a quick note to whomever named the thread;
there is no hyphen in this "Ram Jet".

I bought this 23 years ago along with a few others. This and one other are the only ones that remain from that brief return to rocketry. I tried to get my kids into this but they weren't having any of that. They enjoyed watching the old man launch them, but I could never entice them to build one.

I have a 6x RAMJET up in my garage rafters. Flown on K550-10(yes, motor well ejection) mostly with a CP Technologies nose cone. A semi-failed flight with a Kosdon L1600. The plastic nosecone fell off, deploied the chute still under burn and came down nicely after that. I had to replace the upper body section but that was all. The CP tech nosecone is a 4.1" dia 3:1 balsa cone, a little short of scale but it's 16" overall.

Thinking on loading it up with a J800-6 for a close to scale flight on my second level flight :)

Those are some sweet lookin' Ram Jets!
Mine was lost in 91' on it's maiden flight to a tree. It stayed in the tree til' it rotted away.

As a RAMJET aficionado I feel your loss. I built my first RAMJET about the same time as you, mine was destroyed when my mentally impaired nephew thought it would be fun to tear up the slightly fin damaged, easily repaired rocket. I now have clones from a mini motored BT55 version all the way up to a 6X RAMJET, flown several times on a K550-10 (yes, motor well ejection ;) ) to a Kosdon L1600 with delay cut to 15 seconds. When I go for my 3rd level again I will be building an 8X RAMJET, around 8 feet tall. CTI M2250 for the motor with required electronics :p

edit: ...ok...I'm getting old... :p Kinda repeated a previous post but there is some new info in this post...thankfully ;)

The Ram Jet is going to be my next non-kit build. Today I recreated the decal sheet in Adobe Illustrator. Here's a PDF of the decal sheet.

Cheers
